Ultra stupid question, but I have a battery dying in a friend's desktop PC, and...embarrassingly, I can't remember what the heck the model is for those.

CR2032 or something? Or am I just making that up. Not sure where to even buy them now.

Those things last so long I honestly forgot they existed until it started giving her low battery warnings lol

I had to buy one about 9 months ago. I got one at the watch section in a Walmart. I just took the battery there and the lady looked at it and handed me the correct replacement.

As far as I know, all motherboards (even on laptops) use CR2032.

They're as common as AAs and AAAs, just look around the battery section of your favorite place to buy batteries.

If for some weird reason the motherboard in question uses a different size, just keep the battery. Plenty of stuff uses CR2032s.

Not all laptops. Some can take smaller like CR1220. My netbook Asus EeePC take ML1220 and is rechargeable.

Rechargeable? What for? These things last forever and shouldn't drain if there's battery or mains power.

Thanks guys! I feels kind of silly asking such a basic question, particularly since it's not like I haven't replaced these before! I'll buy one before my mom complains some more

I picked up a 5-pack of CR2032 at Harbor Freight recently for $1.99. For some reason my garage door opener also uses them in the remotes.

Garage door opener remotes, electronic scales, watches, back-up battery for clock radios, varied IR remotes (the thinner ones)...
It's always good to have one or two around, same goes for the CR2016.
