Hmm, you mean--if you're battery is dying on you?

In that case, you'll probably always have the default CMOS date after reboot and also your clock will reset to default. Other weird BIOS problems should also occur.

In addition to the preceding, Check sum errors will be showing during post and requires you to go the Bios Setup everytime you boot. The CPU speed may not be detected properly and after setting everything in the bios next time you boot it'll be the same problem again.

My K7S5A told me I had a low battery after I removed and replaced it the first day. It was wrong, but it must have meant well.

FYI, my K7S5A had a issues when I got it, changed the battery and everything has been fine since. This must be a common thing. Makes sense to me, board sitting somewhere for a long time...

i just recieved my new board/1.4athlon/fan TODAY/now... installed it, had the SAME EXACT problem.. went on the anandtech forums to find out what the deal was with that.. anyway, i recieved the whole 'cmos battery low' error and some other error at once.. tried rebooting a couple times nothing worked, even resetted the bios.. but i remember...

the first thing i did was reset the cmos, that didn't work..
the second thing i did was 'load optimal values' in the bios --> save changes and quit. turned off computer for about half a minute.. turned it back on and THAT WAS IT. NO MORE errors.
the third thing i did do was 'load best performance values' or something like that and i didnt get anymore errors as well..

i did read somewhere on this that it had to do with ram timing settings setting one of the timings to 7 but that didnt work for me, only thing that did work for me what was mentioned above..
