CMOS Battery and BIOS

I need to change out my CMOS battery on my motherboard. This is an EPoX 9NPA+Ultra 939 and it has the next to last BIOS made for this board before EPoX went under.

Question: I know changing out the CMOS battery means I'll have to reset the BIOS settings to where I want them, but will the BIOS need to be reflashed to get it to this "newer" BIOS (rather than the one that it originally came with)?

You won't need to flash it after your battery swap.

If you leave the power supply plugged into the wall outlet, all the BIOS settings will be retained. The PSU powers the BIOS even with the PSU turned off, the computer turned off and the battery pulled.

If there's a fix or feature in the newer bios that you need/want, then go for it.
Of course a bios reinstall will require resetting bios settings.

BIOS are embedded in a None volitial memory they do not need power to stay on.

The clock however would not work. Time and date would need to be adjusted after reboot.

Only with default settings though.
