cmos and soundcard?

ok, i dont know a whole lot about the inner working of computers, and i have something weird going on. I booted up today, and had some weird message about my cmos being messed up. I rebooted and everything seemed fine, but then i noticed, that i dont have any sound anymore. im not sure whats going on. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling my sound card drivers, but no luck. everything else seems to be functioning correctly, just now sound now. Any ideas?

Do you remember the message? It could be a virus, but more than likely you need to replace your cmos battery. Look for the message again. Go into bios and set your integrated sound.

i dont remember the exact message, but it halted my bootup, and made me go into setup...

how would this be related to my soundcard?

does your motherboard have onboard sound? could that be interfering with your sound card?

update, after 2 reboots the sound card, and everything seems to be functioning again.... strange
