CMI8738/PCI or sis ac 97? whats better

i bought a ABT 4 channel sound card for $2 at andaratech. anyways, would it be better to use that sound card or the sis ac97 codec one built into my sis 650 chipset.


does anyone know of any big name sound cards that use that chipset?

Friend, the CMI8738 PCI would be better in the sense that it is a "hardware" sound card unlike the AC 97 which is software based. A good comparison is like the performance between a software-based RAID against a hardware-based RAID PCI card. Cheers!

hmmm apparently the maxi gamer muse is a cm8738 i guess i'll use it then.
