cmi8738 driver problems

ive got a cmi8738 6channel audio card which i want to use but i forgot the manufacturer nor the place i bought this... since its chip is based on a CMI8738-6CH-LX, it has outputs for front, rear, and bass/center speakers and i know it can suppot at most 6 speakers.... it also has internal conections for CD SPDIF IN, and an optical interface... i tried many drivers and even the lastest reference driver but i cant get it to configure at 6.1 or even 5.1 channel output... it always stays at 2 or 4 channels... i could only use the front & rear outputs, but not the center/bass... hope i could send pictures but i dont have cam so if this wuld help, the PCB is not square/rectangular like most PCB's are, and its colored BLACK. there no other visible markings that can tell what model this is but only a marking "CMI8738 6-channel AUDIO" with the following markings underneath it "010723 Rev"

i hope anyone can help me get the 6.1 or 5.1 channel out..

Most of the 6-channel sound cards I've seen usually you have to go into the driver portion and actually select it to be 6-channel, otherwise it stays defaulted to 4-channel (it doesn't automatically detect that you want it to be 6-channel just by plugging stuff in it). I suppose they figure most people don't have the speaker setup to fully utilize the 6-channel part and for the majority of people, the 4-channel works better.

ive already tried using the drivers directly from CMEDIA website, used updated versions (driver version 0644) from other manufacturers but still i only get 2 & 4 channel setup when i get into the configuration... though the picture shows all the connections i have on my soundcard, stil i cant choose higher than a 4-channel setup....

any other suggestios pls? could i manually set the configuration myself tru the INF & INI settings on the driver? if so, how owuld i do this...???
