I have an Audio Excel sound card with the C-Media chipset CMI8738.
i have no trouble with it & Win98, but now any sort of activity causes massive distortion!
just openning up one program & the sound (say a song on Media Player) distorts & slows down.
The openning sequences of games too & for that matter the game itself. The slightest system load & the sound is crap.
i though maybe the card is too much of a 'cheap' card, but see that CMI8738 is listed on the microsoft site as a compatible product.
i have, of course, downloaded & installed the latest XP drivers for the card etc
anyone got any ideas??
