CM690 vs rocketfish

If you do the minor mods mentioned in the Rocketfish threads, then the Rocketfish can be made pretty quiet even with the stock fans (which push nearly 50% more air than the stock fans of the 690). You can install a fan controller for even quieter. But I was surprised at the low noise of the 690 considering how porous it is. I think it will be a bit harder to manage the air flow in the 690 as it has so much superfluous venting. The RFFT has a good amount of superfluous venting too, but not nearly as much. I think the 690 ia a better cooling case OOB, but the RFFT can be made into a very good cooler with a bit of thought and tweaking.

BTW, the 690 looks like a compact box standing next to the RFFT...

From the pictures the CM690 looks fairly big to me. But then I've never seen a rocketfish in person to compare to either.

Coming from standard mid-towers to the CM690 was already a bit of an adjustment... man the RFFT is big.

I haven't seen the RFFT here in Canada, but i'm quite pleased re: noise and cooling performance of the CM690. I'm using the CM stock fans in front, rear and top-rear locations and it keeps my machine nice and cool despite all of the mesh and other superfluous venting Zepper mentioned. THe fans in my PSU (Enermax NoiseTaker) are louder then the three case fans/CPU combined, and it's already a fairly quiet PSU.

I love CM690, I have 7 fans installed running with 6x 120mm and 1 140mm. They're all Yate Loon fans, controlled with fan controller so that it runs at 5-6v. I only kick them up when its in games. For a porous case, its pretty quiet
