CM690 case and noisy side fan

I have a CM690 case and when I use an intake fan on the side panel it make a loud buzzing noise like an airplane propeller. I tried an Antec fan and the CM fan the case came with, no difference in sound. I tried the Antec fan on another case and it was quiet so I think it's the case design that's causing it as I read someone else having the problem with this case. Would installing washers inbetween the side panel and fan make it much quieter or is there a special fan I need to avoid this noise problem when using a side panel intake fan? The reason why I want to use a side intake fan was because my GTX 580 runs cooler with a side intake fan. The front intake fan is blocked by the hard drive cage.

* What type of CPU cooler are you using?
* How close is the CPU fan to the side fan?
* Are both fans in-line with each other?

Sometimes fan alignment issues can cause turbulence and therefore more noise.
I've found that fans that aren't in direct line, but offset from one another make for a quieter setup.
Example: It may not be apparent, but the side panel fan and CPU fan are offset.
This setup made for nice quiet cooling.
I found the "sweet spot" for the side fan placement by holding the running side fan in different locations without any side panel.

you try using a fan thats suspended on rubber mounts? all enermax fans come with these and you can buy them for fans that dont as well so long as the fans are open corner designs. i've never had issues with buzzing on my 690 or my 690 II, but i still use the stock CM fan on the 690 side door. im using all rubber mounted fans in my 690 II though cause i replaced all the stock ones with high pressure fans that came with these mounts

Take a 10usd go to newegg and buy another one.

If his noise is due to fan alignment/turbulence, he could buy dozens of fans and still never solve the problem.

I know exactly what the OP is talking about. Had the same issue with my 690. It makes an annoying sound when the fan is set for intake. A lower RPM fan would help, but I got some cheap 120mm fan and busted it out so I just had the square body which I then zip tied to my good fan. This gives the fan enough distance away from the vent holes that it won't make the noise.
