The MotoDroid guys have their own thread. I think the Dinc people need their own too!
I got tired of waiting for 2.2 and I was reading threads about how they haven't quite figured out how to root the OTA 2.2. So I just rooted my 2.1 Dinc and switched to CyanogenMod based on Froyo 2.2. So far, so good. I did have a titanium backup failure that caused a second wipe, but I managed to sort that out (hint - don't do a restore all batch when going from 2.1 to 2.2 - it might not work - restore programs individually and all is fine). Tititanium backup is great once you figure it out! Rom manager is pretty great too.
It might be all in my head, but everything seems faster. Battery life seems as good or better. I really think the battery life is MUCH better, but that may be what I want to see since battery life in 2.1 was horrible.
I'd link some useful threads for the curious, but I'm not sure that the mods would allow direct links to forums with possibly questionable content. Here are some search terms:
