Cluster error

My setup has been working for about a 6 months now and I recently ran into some problems after I disabled the network adapter on node 1.

Now, it failed over to node 2 but when it tries to fail over to node 1, I get this error message in event viewer and node 2 still is the active server:

Event ID: 1068
Computer: Node-2

Cluster file share resource VOL1 failed to start with error 2116.

I looked around and some people say that it is because I have the drive letter already assigned on the node 1 but the 2 drive letters that should be mapped are not on the server... at least not in My Computer and not seen when I view net use.

I have powered down both servers and the shared scsi array.

I've scowered google for help but nothing good has come of it.

Thanks!

Why did you disable the nic on the first node? I assume you have re-enabled it??

Cluster requires one nic configured between the 2 servers to control the heartbeat. This connects the two servers so they can communicate with each other.

Second NIC attaches to your infrastructure. Is node 1 on the cluster up or is there a red X thru it?

I'm sorry, I re-enabled the network card - I was doing this to test the failover status late one night.

There is no problem with the public and heartbeat connections, they see each other and in Cluster Admin both nodes appear without problems - Just can't seem to get the resources to jump to node 1 anymore...

Did you create the shares on the cluster using Windows Explorer or cluadmin? If the former, you may need to delete the share and recreate using cluadmin.
