I just read some of the article, thinking, well, It can't be toooo bad. I have to agree with Viper - it does suck. Don't manufacturers run benchmarks on their products before they release them? One would think SiS would realize their card sucked almost immed.

Geez, I can't help but be reminded of the underwhelming performance of the Parhelia. But I don't recall remarks about how loud, hot, and buggy the Parhelia was. I don't know how much this card is, but I can't imagine it'd be cheaper than a Radeon 9800 Pro and it gets beat by $130 cards. Pitiful is the word I would use here.

For those that don't want to read it, here is my "Ultra quick save you all that reading" review :)

Peforms about same level as a FX5600, in majority of tests, but with driver "optimisations", which reduce the image quality akin to the scenes being drawn by a quadraplegic 5 year old.
Turn the optimisations off, and you get a frame rate akin to the scenes being drawn by a quadraplegic 5 year old.

WHY is it that they put all this money into r&d and get these crappy driver team. My guess is if they had ATI's crew they would have a much better product

Don't forget, ATi has only stepped up its driver team in the last 1-2 years. Before then, we were making the same complaint about them.

My goodness what a crappy video card.

If it's the drivers fault and new drivers will fix it then you would have to see a 300% or 400% improvement just to keep up the similarly priced ATI. If they do that, I am going to go out and buy one as soon as they can get it to work.

Crap crap crap. crapity crap crap

$500 video card? good luck selling it.

Man this card LOOKS AWESOME!

Somehow I think Volari will be going out of business after releasing that.

I think that card has potential with all its raw power. Just the drivers need to mature. Ever remember ATI Radeon 8500's prerelease? That beast could only keep up with a geforce2ti. Now it's near geforce4ti performance.

They got a lot to do then. Hopefully S3's card isn't as bad. Maybe they'll be smart and release it when it's ready if they do..

Bleh you can't even buy this card yet. "Volari" on pricewatch does nothing.
They still have time to go crazy and pull some magic drivers out.

It's a start, even if not a great one, hopefully they can try and not re-use their existing projects, and start on something new for their next cards.

Club 3D is Powercolor's European distributor. You can already buy them over there.
