Hi Guys

I want to replace my ageing 4850. I have a system with following specs:

i5 2500K @ stock with stock HSF
ASUS P8P67
Core GS 700W
8 GB 1333
1080 resolution

I tend to keep things for long (just look at the age of my current GPU - but it was good enough for Heart of Swarm) so most likely I will see my next overhaul with Skylake. Keeping that in mind, I am thinking of getting 7950.

Now where I live, this is the cheapest 7950 that I can get:

http://www.club-3d.com/index.php/products/reader.en/product/radeon-hd-7950-royalking.1314.html

Its the 880Mhz boost version. I can also get a stock Club 3d 660 Ti in about the same price but would obviously prefer 7950 (3gb memory being one reason).

The only review that I could find for this card is here:

http://www.overclock3d.net/reviews/gpu_displays/club_3d_7950_royal_king_review/1

Its full of praises but it raises a few questions as stock performance is just horrid and I cannot believe some of those OC figures.

So it boils down to this, should I get this GPU? Opinions?

PS. The next 7950 costs like 50$ more here (Sapphire)...and it come @ 810 Mhz core

that looks like it uses a custom PCB, rather than the AMD reference PCB. That *could* mean cheaper components, since you say you don't upgrade often, I would get the Sapphire.

Stock performance on a 7950 is always bad. 7950s are rather slow until you overclock them. Look at the HIS 7950 they compare it to. Most of the better numbers you see now are for a "GHz" or boost edition of the 7950. 1200 MHz is a bit high for a 7950, but most of them should hit 1000-1100 comfortably, which will bring you in line with better brands.

OC3D seems to be happy with the way the card performs. Under OC the temps were 64 °C loaded.. which is good.
