Cloud Gaming...with your own PC?

I was messing around with Windows Mesh (TO THE CLOUD! 😛) on my desktop and laptop when the thought occurred to me: My desktop is much better suited for gaming than my laptop. In situations where I can't bring my desktop but still have internet access, would it be possible to use a remote connection to set up my desktop as the "cloud" device and play games with my laptop from my desktop? If so, would Windows Mesh be a sufficient remote control program, or would some better third-party program be needed?

It is probably possible. I mean you could RM into the desktop and play through that I suppose - but I would think it would have issues with latency. Probably be okay for turn based games or slow games like Civ 5 or King Arthur. Doubt it would be very effective for faster games like Starcraft or Call of Duty.

As mentioned above, Streammygame is supposedly meant for this. I bookmarked it based on a thread a few months ago, but haven't experimented yet.

your latency is going to suck bad. Would only be useful for turn based games, which you could probably already just play on the laptop.

suck bad in comparison to what exactly? most games online are enjoyable up to around 100 ping (current generation games)

yes, certain games would not work on this, but im guessing a very high number would work just fine

this would be especially good for single player games

Try remoting into your desktop and seeing how the latency is doing basic stuff like clicking on directories and watching a movie. That should tell you if you can deal with it. Good luck with the sound.

I played around with this a long time ago and it worked fairly well. It hasn't been updated in a while but they claim to be releasing a new version soon.
