Cloud computing - desktops with virtualbox and video streamed?

I had this idea a while ago, but...

Has there been any company trying a cloud based os system, where people have virtual linux systems on a server somewhere? These systems would be delivered over an internet connection with streamed video to the desktop and input coming from the client side computer.

I wonder how feasible it would be for someone to mess with source code to get this working.
 
Tons of providers for Cloud based computing, but what you are looking for isn't really applicable to cloud computing, you want just a standard VPS from any number of providers. Any OS you can put on those you can install a VNC type solution to get access to the desktop if you really wanted to.

Some companies even offer Windows XP virtual machines.
