i say no, not because of the color choice, but due to there being too many patterns going on with the vest and the tie. I don't think it would be seamless, I think it would be distracting and a bit jaunting to look at. If the tie was just a solid color - then maybe.

I say the patterns clash as well. When I wear solid shirts, I wear striped or patterned ties and a solid suit. Patterned suit = solid shirt AND tie. Patterned shirt = solid tie, solid suit.

EDIT: By suit I really mean "crappy blazer" or "sports jacket," none of the shit in my closet could be called a "suit"

No. Besides the obvious reason that a tie and sweater vest is tacky, unless you're 6 years old in a family photo. The tie and vest both have a diamond pattern. Matching patterns is a no-no. Generally, either the tie or the shirt should have a pattern but not both.

I do like that tie though,

I do like that tie though,

depends on how pronounced the pattern is. but yea, it's usually safer to avoid it.

True. The pattern on the tie is pretty tame, so the OP might able to swing it.

It's a bitch. I'm colorblind and knowing if clothes match is difficult. So, I go around naked.

I get the idea, but what color shirt would you wear. You would at least need a color to separate the vest from the tie without blending in with either and I can't think of anything decent.

I wouldn't wear a sweater vest to begin with... but if someone were forcing me into that thing, I'd probably wear a french blue short sleeve shirt.
