>= 2MP
uses AA batteries
has shutter/apeture control
3x OPTICAL zoom
as close as possible to the size of a canon S10.
USB

I had the s10 and returned it w/ intent to repaint my car.. but that ended up to cost too much, so i'm looking at a digital camera again. The S10 was nice, but w/o a 3x zoom, it showed it's weakness quickly. The LCD also got warm very quickly and it uses a proprietary battery which I don't particularly like.

Now, if I were to get something w/ AA's, i probably will lose out on the size. The closet thing I see is an olympus 2020z, but it's not USB and I'd have to buy an usb smartmedia reader :(

Any opinions on this?

Except for thickness when the lens is extended (zooms tend to do that), my C-3030Z meets every one of those specs and more . . . including a USB port.

It just replaces a C-2000Z which trickled down to my son. <G>

I leave for Switzerland tomorrow and expect to take about 500 pictures with it over the next two weeks.

My laptop goes also . . . is my traveling "darkroom." I don't use any cable for download . . . have PCMCIA reader. It's neater that way.

How much zoom does the S-20 have?

Does the Fujifilm 4700 have USB? It meets all the other specs.

but with a microdrive, you do have to wait longer between shots since it takes time for the data which is the image to be transferred to the drive itself. so if you don't mind the wait, it's fine.
