Gday all

Few questions on a system build for ya.

Mainly a gaming rig, some movies/webserfing.
I will keep this system for quite some time. I want a solid rig that can last for awhile.
As far as overclocking, I wont mess with it for a year or two after buying the rig, perhaps then I will overclock.
I will use a 24inch display in this build.

1. The Monitor is gateway, however I am getting it from discount electronics, amazon.com linked me to that site. good place to get a part yes no ?
2. Is a 4870x2 going to go to waste on a 24inch screen ?
3. Did I get a part thats twice as expensive for only a 5% peformance gain ?
4. For only a few dollors more can I get a part thats a rather large upgrade ?
5. Will my parts work well together (conflicts) ?

I am no expert here an its hard for me to judge some of the issues. I welcome any feedback/input/advice/flame you have to offer 🙂

overkill on the power supply, and the graphics card is a bit pricey. I would get a cheaper graphics card and just update sooner.

Get the samsung 22x DVD burner.

The memory is a little expensive too, you can get 2x2gb for $80.
The mobo I would say is way overkill. A P45 board would be good if you are going single card.
I agree with PurdueRy that the PSU is overkill too.

Ty , for the input.

Hmm, mobo, I just like the fact I can add a second GPU in crossfire card even if it never happens.

PSU, if I add a sec GPU/overclock it will be trouble free, its a good PSU an will last far longer than any of the other parts in this build.

Hmm, yes I will look around for a better price on the memory 🙂

Crossfire is not an upgrade path worth spending money on. It's for having the utter best performance at the highest resolutions right now.

If you aren't going crossfire right away then don't think of doing it. By the time you get around to it prices on gfx cards will have dropped so much adding a second card won't be as economical as just replacing the first.
