Do you have experience in the field you want to work? If so, I'd just leave it off. No matter how you "spruce up" being a server, is an employer really going to care?

If it was only for the summer I wouldnt even list it. Unless you don't have much else to put down which I guess you would need to in that situation.

Unless it is relevant to the job you're applying for, leave it off. Otherwise, it is really only useful when asked for a job history (I.e. it shows your willingness to work), which you'd fill out eventually with a company.
