Close of escrow has been moved up 1-2 weeks due mistakes by construction workers

We were supposed to close escrow on our new house April 21, 2005. Not gonna happen. A few of our options were done incorrectly.
1. Tiles in entryway were not laid diagonally like we asked.

2. Incorrect shower was installed.

3. Incorrect sink and faucet.

4. Backsplash was not done correctly as well. This was my wife's biggest concern because we had to pick a whole new one. The one originally installed could not be "grouted" even though the rep at the Design Studio made us pick one.
You can't really clean the backsplash after cooking because there are little cracks in between the stones since no grout was installed.

5. This is the biggest issue for me. 3 of the data ports were not working. They think maybe one of the wires might have been pucntured during construction.

I'm gonna live with the entryway and just get a credit. Shower, they are refunding me money and throwing in some garage windows along with a garage opener.
Backsplash should be replaced by this week and my data ports should be getting fixed as well.

Big bummer because I already had plans to get landscaping done right away so we can have my daughters bday party the 3rd week of May.

welcome to the world of buying a new home. I wish I had the money to start a homebuilding business. There is so much room for better competition in that market.

Anyway, it sounds like you didn't visit the site during construction but waited until your walkthrough to find the mistakes. Checking throughout will help with dealing with errors before the end of the close. Sort of like when I found the builder had forgotten to cut out a window in one of the bedrooms just after they put the sheetrock up. Ended up not getting the house, though, because of other issues.
