Cloning PATA hd to SATA on an older board?

I'm rotating hd's on the home network. On my A7N8X Deluxe, I'll be switching the primary hard drive from a Seagate 120GB PATA drive to a Samsung 250GB SATA drive.

I'd planned to use DriveImage XML to clone the drive and avoid a time-consuming fresh installation of XP.

But I realized that's not going to work...the A7N8X requires one to "press F6" for SATA drivers when installing the OS.

Is there a way I can install those necessary boot drivers now, and then clone the hd so that it will boot right up?

Edit: postmortemIA was correct. I obviously had to install the SATA drive in the original installation to clone the PATA drive to it. The computer booted right up after the copying. I ended up using Norton Ghost, though. DriveImage XML wouldn't complete the clone.
