Cloning Laptop Drive

I want to upgrade my laptop hard drive. Can I use an adapter and Ghost the old drive to my desktop, and then copy that image to the new laptop hard drive or should I get 2 adapters and put both on the desktop and copy from 1 to the other. Or any other suggestions?

or you can just buy Apricorn's kit.

It has the HD tray you can later use to keep back-ups and includes teh software and cables to clone painlessly..

I use it all the time.
