Cloning from HDD to SSD Success and Failure Rates

I have been considering upgrading my old HDD to a SSD and I have heard cloning was an option. I have a friend telling me that it can cause some problems.

Not sure what your friend is talking about. I've cloned hundreds of mechanical hard drives to SSD's without issue. I mostly use Acronis TrueImage, Aomei Backupper, EaseUS Disk Cloning, and various others.

Don't forget, Macrium Reflect Free, CloneZilla (GPLed, I believe), as well as Samsung's Migration Tool.

I've cloned my fair share of HDD->SSD and hand't had a single issue using acronis. Provided source and target drives were healthy.

I just upgraded my laptops old mechanical HD to a 860 EVO using Samsung Migration Tool... no issues to report.
