Well, I have a friend who wants to upgrade his hard drive, but doesnt want to format. I tried cloning his current hard drive onto the new one with Norton Ghost 10.0, but when I tried to boot the new one, it doesnt work. (No operating system found).

? Im lost

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

The BIOS will boot from the first Primary partition marked as Active, on the HD you've told it to boot from (HD 0 by default).

If you restored to a logical partition or to a primary partition without making it active then the BIOS won't find the OS.

Is this on a SATA or PATA system? Did you remove the old hdd when you tried newly cloned hdd? If it's PATA are the jumpers set right? It could have been a bad clone. Most of the time I just use MaxBlast and never had any problems. Although Ghost is also reliable.
