can i create a HDD image with the windows 7 tool ?

I think so, but personally I use Acronis. Many HDD manufacturers have a free version so if your to or from drive is one of them, you can use the free version.
 
i just ended up using clonzilla. only reason i'm doing this is because i'm changing board and wanna see if i want have problems in windows by changing the board
 
I find windows 7 system image tool to work great. Hasn't failed me yet. Easier than most third party solutions as well.
