I cloned a windows hard drive. When I start up from the clone drive, it still loads everything from the original drive.
I tried changing the system drive letter to the original system drive. It does nothing.
%systemroot% and %userprofile% is locked onto the original drive. It keeps pointing to that original drive even when I set the original drive to be Y:

How do I set the original location of %systemroot% and %userprofile% ???

I think you and I are probably asking the same question, or nearly so. My message is listed just after after yours.

I hope you, and I, get an answer that works.

I do have a question: What kind of drives (PATA or SATA) are involved in this?

Also, what version of Windows are you using?

Changing drive letters will do nothing. This is the fundamental question to this situation.
I'm actually going from SCSI to PATA RAID, both on controller cards.

I've tried this over a year ago from PATA to SATA RAID. Ran into the same problem.

OPTIONS:

-repair windows

-set as secondary drive, extract necessary data, erase it, clean wipe out, clean install

-restore it with old junk (risky/unstable OS environment)

I'd go with these if I were you, otherwise, you can keep fiddling, you may come up with something.
