Cloned drives with seagate tools now I can't boot.

Hey guys. I'm pretty sure my MBR was on the drive I copied the windows install over too. One drive had windows 7(C) that I upgraded to windows 8 (D)on and selected a second internal drive as the install path.

I cloned the drive (D) to drove (C) with seagate tools in dos. But now when I boot it says no OS found or something.

I have at my disposal now.

1) a windows xp Dvd Thought I don't think it's bootable.
2) a windows 7 DVD that is bootable.
3) seagate tools for dos.

I don't have another PC at the moment to make a USB drove that I knew I should have done before this mess.

Thanks for your help.

If it is a dual boot system, you need to verify where the boot sector is. Put the system back to it's working config and unplug each drive one at a time. That will tell you where the MBR is for sure.

You can try to boot to a Win7 DVD and see if you can do a fix mbr or install over the existing and see if it will boot. Google will yield better instructions than I could remember.

I have the ability to copy and paste files from DVDs but I don't know what to do. Please help someone 🙂

Thanks man. I'm gonna try reinstalling windows 7 on one of the cloned drives then upgrade to windows 8 then see if I can make a startup tool/ disk. I can see all my data on both drives and the file sizes are the same.

I'm gonna paypal you at some point tonight. Haha
