Clone to Advance Format Potential Issue

If I was to clone a drive or a raid from a current format drive to the newer advance format one would that cause problems?

If so would it be wise to get an advance format drive now as to not deal with it later on?

I plan on having these drives in operation for quite a long time that's why I am asking if it would be an issue years down the road when I need to move to higher storage or replace a dead drive.

What you contemplate would not be a clone. A clone is an exact, bit by bit duplicate of a given drive, format and all.

Sorry about that Corky I mean making an image of the data on the drive and end up restoring it to an advance format drive.

That should work. Current Acronis software does not yet support that, but it is on the way. In Windows 7 it will be Acronis Disk Director (ADD) 11.0

This quote is from an Acronis tech: "I regret to inform you that Acronis Disk Director 10.0 cannot make partitions in new format 4k since it is Windows 7 format, and Acronis Disk Director 10.0 doesn't support Windows 7.

This feature will be implemented in the new Acronis Disk Director 11.0 which we plan to release soon, and meanwhile I would like to offer you to test our ADD 11 Beta version. You can always share your experience and commiunicate with developers and testers in our Acronis Disk Director 11.0 Beta Forum!"

So, you can probably try their beta version of ADD 11.0
