Clone mode on Video Card == Performance hit?

So, I just started to use clone mode on my GTS 512 to mirror the display on my projector.

I'm wondering if when I'm gaming the video card actually just sends the same signal split into two or if it actually renders twice the amount of data, one for each display? I'm pretty sure it wouldn't since that would be stupid, but I just want to make sure there is no performance hit in gaming when using clone mode.

Thanks,
RA

Wow, 44 views and no reply...guess I'm not the only one who is not 100% certain about this.

I'm almost certain it doesn't affect your performance. Extending your desktop might a little bit by creating unused but still present physical resolution for your video card to process each frame, but cloning should just be at the board level and not really on your GPU.
