Clogged Kitchen Sink

So this morning i noticed my kitchen sink was clogged. No big deal normally, took apart the trap assembly and noticed it was clean. Looking for the easy solution i picked up some Draino 'Professional' and gave that a shot. Nothing. So i went back to the ol' boiling water and baking soda. Still nothing. I went to Home Depot then and picked up a 25' snake. Well, i've sunk all 25' of my snake into the pipe and still no luck. Still completely clogged. I've put the trap assembly back on several times after using the snake to pour some boiling water down the drain to see if maybe that would start moving whatever was blocking the drain. Short of using some of that 'Guaranteed to work! ' acid at Home Depot i'm ready to give up and call a pro.

edit: i've also attempted to use a plunger in the sink/

I took posession of the place 4 months ago. Probably the previous owners since i'm the only one that lives here, and i don't put crap like that in there.

Urine-diluted feces should be able to unclog your pipes without any follow-up visits.

Well, obviously the clog is beyond 25' of your drain.

Does the house have a basement? If there is, you might get further along by opening up the cleanout (usually a flat cap on the floor) and starting from there.

You can also pick up a gizmo which you can hook up to a garden hose, it'll blow up to the size of the pipe then might blow out the clog. I suggest you do this in a pipe that is fairly secure otherwise it'll blow apart some joints.

You can rent professional augers that'll go out 100 feet, but you might be better of calling a plumber.

lmao, I used a 2 gallon container of battery acid a few years ago in a vain attempt to open a drain - which later proved to be clogged as a result of the iron plumbing being corroded too badly. Anyway, shortly after I dumped the acid down the drain and it had time to work it's way through a bit, the entire neighborhood smelled like rotten eggs as the hydrogen sulfide emanated from everyone's stack.

One hole or two hole sink?

Have you checked to make sure the main vent stack isn't clogged?

A pro would likely just run a powered auger/snake into the drain.

Also, is the kitchen sink located first or last in the drain pipes? May be other drains ahead or before that are the source of the clog.

I tried using some of the acid in the sink today. Well, it now looks like someone took a turd in my sink as it's all full of brown crap, most likely crap that was residing on the walls of the pipes. For those who were asking my sink is indeed a 2 hole sink. And i'm not sure how to check if the main vent stack is clogged. Every other plumbing item in my house works perfectly fine without drainage problems.

If this is the only drain in the house that won't drain... then I'm not sure as you'd tink after 25' it'd be joining up with something else that would then also be clogged. My have to call the Rot-O-Rooter type guys out....

Good Luck.

this won't help the OP, but anyone in downstate NY can call these guys and it's relatively cheap.

I'd rather do that than spend all the time and effort (past doing Drano myself) as described in the OP

Got it! After all the chemicals washed up i decided i was going to call a pro. So i called Roto-Rooter and they'd take a day to get out here. I scooped all the nasty chemicals out of the sink, and went in with the snake one more time. Got all 25' in as usual, and retracted it hoping to see a big wad of something stuck on the end. Well i pulled it back and it looked clean. I put the pipes back together and let the water run. This time it took 30-45 seconds before the sink actually started to back up a bit - but it was draining a lot faster then before so i must have hit something. So i kept the water running then heard a big 'gulp' from the sink and down she went. I poured some more boiling water down the drain and have had it running for about 10 minutes no problems. Looks like the last attempt finally loosened the clog.

Thanks for your help everyone.
