I noticed that my athlonxp 2000+ is running underspeed. The clock speed is about 500mhz lower then it should be. My pc3200 RAM is also running underspeed. What could be causing this? The bios wont let me adjust the FSB, only the multiplier. I switched in windows the power scheme to be always on but its still running underclocked. Any help would be much appreciated.

xp 2000+
MSI KT880 Delta
1gb Corsair XMS
80gb WD IDE
450w Thermaltake purepower

Back up the horse....that processor is clock locked...you cant change the multiplier without a hard mod to the processor....the only thing that could cause it to be running under speed is the FSB!! The bus should be running at 133...if it is running at 100 then you will be running 412 hz under rated speed..

Have you tried using MSI Core Center to change the FSB? You can download it from MSI's website. It will show you the current FSB and usually allow you to alter it as well. Worth a try.

ya the FSB is at 100 and locked. The multiplier is not locked. ill download the core center and try that out. But can i safely adjust it from the core center software? I mean are the voltages going to be okay? I tryed flashing different bios and updating the chipset but the same problem is going on. How hot do these cpu's usually get? could that be causing it to slow down?

is there a 100/133 fsb jumper on the mobo? you are not expecting to see 2000mhz, are you? 2000+ is not default @ that speed. I think 2000+ means 1.67ghz
