So when can I get my hands on a few Pulse phaser rifles and photon torpedos?
With those 2 items and a cloaking device I can end the North Korea crisis. :D

I never understood why photon torpedoes were so damn slow. Ships are able to break the light speed barrier (even shuttlecraft, IIRC), and they had instantaneous communication channels across the galaxy. You'd think they'd have invested in something a bit faster, or even have a launching mechanism to fire it at relatavistic speeds. And then even with the phasers, they'd often miss their target. Given that their weapons and targeting tech is supposed to be leaps and bounds beyond what we're capable of, I find it hard to believe that in skirmishes within visual distance the computers can't accurate fire the weapons.

someone is using cloaking technology on the 2 - 3 threads about this yesterday, apparently.

The never ending battle of Electronic warfare.
When someone develops a big bad targeting system, someone develops a bigger badder ECM system. Then someone else developers a even larger ECCM system. So on and so forth.

You think just because they are in the 24th century they don't use Electronic Counter measures or Electronic Counter Counter measures?

I'd imagine that with such technology, battles would take place at astronomical distances, and in most cases take place within the blink of an eye. If you're within visual range, using beam weapons, you could target with simple optics and some trig.

Mel Brooks is no dummy. He knew what Bill Gates was up to. :p
