Actually, since this involves government state department business, not just Hillary, it makes sense to plead the 5th.
You can take Hillary completely out of the equation, and still pleading the 5th would be the correct action.
This in itself, how the server was setup conforming to strict government standards, would justify pleading the 5th.
I'd suspect this order came directly from the state department itself, not anything Hillary related.
We're not just talking some run of the mill home server you buy off of Amazon, we're talking strict security issues that would harm national security if exposed in a public forum.
Knee jerk reactions, media tabloid reporting, jumping to conclusions, all a bunch of nonsense.
Sure, it sells papers and spikes TV ratings for MSNBC, FOX, and CNN, however what do we really know about this? Nothing.
But what the hay.... have fun in fantasy land while it lasts.

Can't you find a better person to nominate? Why keep backing this fake Democrat? OR why not Sanders he has your interests in mind, do you really think Clinton has your back?

It's amazing how this was not any sort of secret for the entirety of her term as SoS but only became issue after she announced her run for president.

This entire brouhaha over what amounts to using home e-mail for work.

The FBI investigation will at worst find breeches of protocol/policy and that will be the end of it outside whatever the media bubble keeps propping up as "a very serious issue in Hilary's campaign."

This whole thing is absurd.

That's because Repub ideology & policy are absurd, so they have to create greater absurdities to disguise that.

Humm this reminds me more and more of Watergate.

What is she trying to hide why destroy so many emails? all she had to do is hand over the server untouched right from the beginning.

Most millenials have no clue what Watergate is.

Gawd that's lame. First establish that a crime has been committed prior to making Watergate comparisons.

Can't you find somebody who can beat her?

Not that any of them might have interests in mind beyond the welfare of the Lootocracy & pandering to fools but maybe you need to clean up your side of the street before complaining about the way others do it...

It's obvious that you're just concern trolling.

That's fine and expected, that the media en masse is going right along with it is outright journalistic malpractice.

So much for the myth of the Liberal Media. They've been re-broadcasters of scurrilous right wing sensationalism for decades.

And that is what the FBI is doing

And the aide is attempting to hinder an investigation. Information could be provided to the FBI to assist them; but he is hindering such.

While he is taking the 5th for Congress; it also now prevents any cooperation with the FBI

Citation needed. I don't believe the two have anything to do with each other. He can provide plenty of information to the FBI while still declining to formally testify before a Congressional hearing. I can even understand why he might. There's a world of difference between a legitimate investigation seeking criminal malfeasance and a partisan witch hunt seeking campaign propaganda.

It's hard to blame Repub leaders sometimes, given the millions of people dying for 'em to say what those people want to hear.

It's one of those "tell me you love me & then you can fuck me" deals.

Nobody in this thread would voluntarily agree to explain the ins and outs of setting up an e-mail server to a bunch of old congress farts that couldn't understand half of it, with a bunch of them actively gunning for your ass, all to be reported by journalists who rarely seem to understand half of anything they report on.

I also see that Hillary will be doing a sit-down with Mrs. Alan Greenspan tomorrow where all this will be intricately addressed in a very serious manner I'm sure.

Really ought to have one of our lawyers address that. My own understanding is that as a defendant, one cannot selectively testify about a particular matter, but as a witness one may selectively plead the fifth. Of course, as a witness one can be compelled by subpoena to testify, to an extent. Of course, in the court of public opinion everyone (well, everyone not driven by partisanship in his favor) will believe that if he pleads the fifth, he has done something worthy of prosecution, or is protecting someone who has.

Not exactly. The FBI maintains confidentiality unless the issue moves to trial. They won't necessarily say who's said what if anything at all unless that happens.

Obviously, that's not true of Repub Congressional committees on a witch hunt.

As you say, the Repub base will believe damned near anything. Once they believe, it's like it's been burned into their eproms. Only complete erasure & reprogramming could possibly change it. They're still defending the invasion of Iraq & firmly believe that Barney Frank created the housing bubble.

I just realized, wouldn't any negatives about Hilary increase Bernie's chances? Oh my, I am all up for it!

it'll all make a lot more sense when Biden announces his candidacy.

This. I'm just surprised that no one has clued Clinton in to the fact that she's a sacrificial victim. By the same token, no one has stopped her from taking photographs with her obviously fake smile.

I don't understand what is inherently insecure about webmail. Did it not require https encryption?

We haven't gotten any information about the config, but since everything we have heard has been an unmitigated shitshow it wouldn't surprise me in the least if there was no encryption on the box at all.

It's a BS article posted by a highly dishonest propaganda site. It assumes that the rubes who read it know nothing about email and security. Clearly, it was a good assumption.

Nice! Unlock the doors, advertise you are away. Then send/receive confidential emails from the Secretary of State.

The incompetence that the dems will accept is amazing.

From your linked hatchet job-

The webmail portal vastly increased the chances that Clinton’s server was hacked, a computer expert tells Breitbart News.

It's the usual anonymous yet supposedly authoritative chump bait.

Imagine that. When one relies on partisan propaganda sites as their primary source of information, every story about their opponents looks like an "unmitigated shitshow.' What an amazing coincidence.

Barnum was right.

As opposed to? Do you have anything to refute it?

How about the fact that the one easter European hacker got into Blumenthal's AOL account. If he had that, he had the Clinton email domain. If he had that he knew where to attack. If he knew where to attack either he could have himself or told another. Not surprisingly there might have been legit hillary emails for sale online.

Jhnnn, we could find the emails stating all us secrets and know they were from Clinton's inbox and you'd still excuse her. Thsts because you are a fucking shill.

Go ahead and point out where I said this article that I haven't read is my primary source of information.

Barnum was right.

Yes, and so was Bierce.

He keeps his goalposts mounted on an LAV so he isn't limited to only moving them around the field or stopped by water barriers. Gotta serve the cause, baby, 8X8.
