they drain the water towers once a year to inspect for rust.

as a tech in the city's engineering division, the city engineer thought i needed to go with, for some reason that i havent exactly figured out.

i didnt argue.

im pretty excited and hopefully will have some cool pics of the dallas skyline, if the weather holds.

I had to climb the stacks at the power plant I worked at numerous times to work on the strobes and the opacity monitors. The highest platform was over 500 ft. up.

All I had to keep me safe was the umbilical belt that was attached to the rail that ran up under the ladder. That was it. I absolutely hated that aspect of my job.

Reminds me of the movie The War...what a sad movie.

But yeah, should be cool...just don't fall in or off 🙂

eh, I'd be fine on just the ladder...it's safe enough for me. Then again, I am a little crazy.

I was fine, too, at the first platform. But the climb to the second platform was gut wrenching. The towers sway in the lightest breeze....... :Q

the ladder is similar in the tower but yeah its nowhere near 500ft and were climbing on the inside of the pipe up through the middle to the outside and down into the bowl.

its probably 200ft at the top but this one sits on one of the higest parts of the city, so the view will be really cool up there.

i had a job where i had to climb smoke stacks on occasion, the tallest one was probably about 150 ft

that is the worst part , when they move

it is one thing to get used to heights, and get way up there, when it is stable, but when the crap starts swaying , that sucks no matter how many times you go up
