Link to Story

Carol Browner, former Clinton administration EPA head and current Obama White House climate czar, instructed auto industry execs "to put nothing in writing, ever" regarding secret negotiations she orchestrated regarding a deal to increase federal Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards.

Rep. James Sensenbrenner, R-WI, is demanding a congressional investigation of Browner's conduct in the CAFE talks, saying in a letter to Rep. Henry Waxman, D-CA, that Browner "intended to leave little or no documentation of the deliberations that lead to stringent new CAFE standards."

Federal law requires officials to preserve documents concerning significant policy decisions, so instructing participants in a policy negotation concerning a major federal policy change could be viewed as a criminal act.

That's pretty bizarre and dumb. It's just another strike against the "Openness and transparency" the Obama touted as a candidate.

I was wondering why the article was so biased, but then I read this:

Editorial Page Editor Mark Tapscott was voted Conservative Journalist of the Year for 2008 by the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), and he was inducted into the Freedom of Information Act Hall of Fame in 2006. Before joining the Examiner in 2006, he was director of The Heritage Foundation's Center for Media and Public Policy and founded its Database 101 Computer-Assisted Research and Reporting Boot Camps at the National Press Club.

Sounds like a bunch of sour grapes by a sore loser.

Reporting a fact is not bias. Providing an opinion that does not include all the facts is bias. So what is the bias here? Just because he is a conservative does not make teh story untrue.

Rather, it is an obvious attempt by our leftists to avoid what is becoming ever more unmistakeable to those who were able to think for themselves last year. And that is Obama is not interested in dialogue, nor openeness but is only interested in an agenda the majority of Americans do not agree with if only they knew all the facts. By hiding behind his Czars and staged news conferences with planted questions, Obama has taken a dramatic turn towards a page out of the Bush admin and turned it into a new chapter of secrecy.

Thank goodness someone is reporting. And kudos to CNN as well.

Just giving you transparency that you are asking for.
He is not just reporting a fact, he's inserting his opinion in the article too.
BTW, Washington Examiner is owned by this guy:
Anschutz, a Republican donor and supporter of George W. Bush's administration, has been an active patron of a number of religious and conservative causes:

* Helped fund Colorado's 1992 Amendment 2, a ballot initiative designed to overturn local and state laws that prohibit discrimination against individuals on the basis of sexual orientation.[12]
* Helped fund the Discovery Institute, a think tank based in Seattle, Washington that promotes intelligent design and criticizes evolution. [13]
* Supported the Parents Television Council, a group that protests against what they believe to be television indecency.[13]
* Financed and distributed Christian films, such as Amazing Grace and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, for mass audiences through his two film production companies and ownership of much of the Regal, Edwards and United Artists theater chains. In addition, as a producer Anschutz reportedly required the removal of certain material related to drug use and sex in the 2004 film Ray because he found it objectionable.[13][14]
* Financed The Foundation for a Better Life.
* In June, 2009, reports circulated that Anschutz was on the verge of purchasing the conservative American opinion magazine The Weekly Standard from Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation. The reports reasoned that, having purchased The Wall Street Journal in 2007, Murdoch's interest in the smaller publication had been less forceful.[15][16] For Anschutz' part, the magazine's editorial line would appear consonant with his political views.

It is a fact that Czar Browner said, "to put nothing in writing, ever." Sure, the writer of the opinion piece added his opinion. That's why it is under the Opinion section of the site.

But the fact still remains that the Climate Czar is trying to leave very little documentation about the negotiations and has instructed the Auto Execs to do the same.

Yeah, numnut it's a frackin opinion piece based on facts. Opinion can be bias, but the facts are what they are. The OP posted about the facts and all you want to do is divert to some extraneous and off topic comments about conservatives.

Must be because you can't think of anything yourself. Check dem underground or dailykos for talking points and get back to us.

What are the facts about the facts here? Is this somebody trying to fabricate an issue out of tissue or is this something. Fire the Czar if doing something illegal. Let the chips fall where they may, no?

I'd say it's more like worse and worse than anybody could have predicted. We knew it was going to be a terrible time in our history and the nation would be irrevocably harmed, but not this bad.

You're still here? I assumed that you would be sending a nasty e-mail to the Examiner raising hell about them allowing someone to state their opinion in an opinion piece.

Blackmail and threats are illegal. Best to keep those over the phone and not in writing.

Agreed. Then maybe we can try him and his cabal of war criminal friends as well.
