Multiplayer: ?Cliff, you buy it? PC gaming is back??

Bleszinski: ?Abso-frigging-lutely. The thing is, I think everybody coming together in that kind of way will essentially kind of help re-glue things back together and kind of help fix the market. I have a big PC gaming heritage and I love playing games with a keyboard and a mouse, as well as a console, and I?d just love to see it.?

That was fast. We must do more to spread awareness of schizophrenia among developers.

Epic fails, CliffyB is a sellout loser, and UT3 was garbage.

Cliffy used to be someone. Now he's just a pawn.

Epic and id have been just engine writers in my book for sometime now. Last game from Epic that I really enjoyed was the original UT. Although UT2004 did a pretty good job on their Deck 16 remake (the only map that I ever wanted to play).

You don't have to cry publicly you know. You can go do it in your room by yourself.

They've made some decent games. I wouldn't call anything post UT1 magic.

Did you play GoW? I personally found it to be an excellent game.

Oh I'm sorry, I'm not the one who was fellating the "PC Gaming is in disarray" comment, only to get it flung back in my face. But that's ok, I understand, nobody wants to be a loser.

You misunderstood what I was trying to say. I also bailed out of that thread when it turned into a flame-fest. Neither productive or interesting.

Well, if what you're claiming in this post wasn't a complete lie, then you might not have to feel like a loser.

You should be careful how much fibbing you do. Might come back and bite you some day.

CliffyB and EPIC games are still awesome IMO. They've made some badass games and will continue to do so. UT3 isnt THAT bad, its just too similar to previous titles. We all make mistakes... especially when a shitload of money is dangling over your head. :)

UT3's problem is not that it's similar to the previous UT games but that it's user interface and server browser were consolized. We should expect the game play to be similar; that's why it's called Unreal Tournament and not something else.

And what would be wrong with the game play being similar to that of previous titles? The game play of the original UT99 was excellent and people still play it competitively--the same way people still play old games like football and basketball. It's an online bloodsport--it doesn't get old. The game is about online multiplayer competition, so if the game play is good there's nothing wrong with a new revision of it having the same game play.

If you play UT and you think the game gets old, then you probably haven't played it competitively. I still play UT99 semi-competitively and it's still just as much fun as it was years ago.

WhipperSnapper's got it right. Gameplay aside, UT2004 as a complete game was very good. Hell it won multiplayer of the year award. It gave us all kinds of features and options that allowed us to tailor the game any way we liked. I played UT GOTY for a few minutes but never really got into UT until UT2004, but I understand the original UT was just about as awesome that way, if not more so.

This latest version of that gives us almost nothing of what we've come to expect. IMO, sure the gameplay of UT3 is pretty much fine, or at least I felt I could easily adapt to it. The problem is the game gives you almost nothing else. I'm spoiled now. If I can't have UT with at the very least all I had with UT2004 (gameplay aspects aside) then I'd rather just play the game I've been playing for the last several years.

Oh, one other thing, I think the graphics really suck in UT3. I understand that's subjective, but I just cannot stand the bloom and general art direction of UT3. But even that's livable if the rest of the game was there.

Here's what I don't get about this complaint... have most of you even seen a console server browser?? I'm guessing many of you haven't. I mean, what about it makes it "consolized"? If you have the chance, take a look at a game like Warhawk (PS3) and its server browser. It's far better than UT3s. So what makes UT3s a "consolized" browser versus it simply being a bad server browser period? Also, about the UI... people complain about it a lot, but again, what's so "consolized" about it? It has a scrolling main menu? If so, what about STALKER? It has a scrolling menu too that is even worse because it's sluggish. I'm not saying that things never get ported over from one platform to another that shouldn't, but often times these complaints don't seem to make much sense. It just seems that anytime there is a console version of a game any problem in said game will be blamed on "consolization"... whereas a game with a similar UI and that is buggy as hell at launch like STALKER is.... what then? PCized?
