Cliff Burton!

Why would you like to just listen to the bass track? Unless maybe you were a bass player learning the craft?

It's like ordering a chicken parmasan but only having the parmesan cheese.

Or viewing a da Vinci painting with only yellow colors

Or watching The Godfather with only Pacino's dialogue

I loved to listen to Cliff. It's a shame what happened to him, it was a tragic loss to the world.

I love how everyone is like "Cliff Burton!@!!!!!" and then links to the only thing anyone remembers him for.

If he hadn't died, he'd be just another metal bass player.

Nothing special about him, there are a lot of good bass players out there. Does a solo track or some stuff on stage and dies and he's like the best there ever could have been or something.

Let's talk about Les Claypool instead. Also a notable mention, Claypool tried out for Metallica before he found Primus

I know. Even (especially) rock stars make poor life choices. 🙁

Probably not so much of a lack of ability to spot talent, they most likely just recognized the fact that Les's style was unique enough that it would start to shape their sound.

cliff burton was considered a genius because the quality of bass players in the metal world is piss poor.

I'd take Jason Newstead over their current retarded choice with his fucking pigtails or whatever the fuck his retarded ass hairstyle is.

Speaking of, I just saw them at Blizzcon. Looking at James Hetfield I felt like I was at an Eagles concert, holy shit he looks old as balls!

Not even close. There are plenty of amazing bass players in the metal world. Unfortunately, 99% of them are turned so far down in the mix you can't hear it.

Technical ability is pretty much king in metal, at least, the shit you don't hear on the radio.
