client pc keeps losing a file

pontifex

Lifer
we have this manufacturing software that runs locally on the client PCs. Don't ask me to explain it because i don't know, but there is this .mde file that must be present to allow them to print to a laser printer.

one of the clients keeps "losing" this file. what i mean is, it deletes itself. the user is not touching the file at all, no one else is having this issue or has had this issue in the past. i thought maybe it was the anti-virus software but there is nothing to indicate that. it doesn't go into quarrantine. i even set the program's folder as an exclusion.

i can replace the file with no problem but in a few days its gone. i replaced it earlier today and the user just came over and told me he can't print again. every time its because of this one file.

using xp pro with sp2, Symantec AV 10 corp. edition.

Has this always been a problem with that system & the S/W package?

Check if the file exists immediatley after running the manufacturing S/W (application).
