Clicking sound coming from speakers..<edited>

Half-Life crashed earlier today and ever since then I've been noticing a clicking sound, almost like static pops.. there are 2 of them.. like .. click click.. and they occur every few seconds... but the span changes from anywhere between a 2 secs to 30.. Anyone know what could be causing it? Yes, I've restarted/cold booted since then and it continues.

Using an SB Live Value and some 4 way speakers from Creative... If I plug the rear speakers in the front port on the card there's no click.. if I plug the rear into the rear port there's no click.. if I plug the front into the rear there's no click.. only time it clicks is if the front are in the front.. I've also tried reinstalling the drivers, once I uninstalled the card there was no clicking but as soon as it was reinstalled it started back up.. it almost sounds like that click you get when the card is initialized during startup.. this is boggling my mind.. any help?

Also, if I run creative recorder and set the input to wave it reads the clicks as coming from the wave device... any idea why my sound card would decide to make random clicks all of a sudden?

That kind of sounds like an external problem.. that or you've got that weird VIA problem with too much crap on the same interrupt. Are your cables frayed, are the ends clean? Maybe something nearby is causing EM interference? Large magnet (amplifier?)

I really have no idea..
