'Click to unhide' a toolbar? in XP

MY friend told me a good idea..to make a seperate quicklaunch toolbar on the side of the screen. However, it annoyed me because I would run my mouse over it accidentally and it would pop open. Anyone know of a way in Windows or a program that will make it only unhide when clicked?
