I'm trying to buy a new printer and open to all suggestions!!!

Brands I don't like:

HP inkjet too pricey and lots of spyware that comes with the printer.
Canon I had one that only lasted 4 months and died.

So what do you guys all recommend? Take the cost of inkjet into consideration!

I would never buy anything but an HP after 20 years of flawless use.

Canons suck. Lexmark/Brother...trash.

Canon's printers have so much misleading in their specs.

MF4270 is a networkable multiuse printer/Scanner/copier...except you cannot scan on the network, only print. It just says netowrkable on the box....never gives any limitations, does not even mention it in the manual.

MF350DN is the next generation networkable multiuse printer/Scanner/copier... except this one can scan over the network! But only 300 dpi resolution and under....and only using their crappy software.

'spyware comes with the printer?'

no, spyware comes on a CD that you should throw out. just install the drivers.

Replaced my Canon Pixma 4000 with a Canon MP990 and love it. Always been a fan of Canon printers. My Dad has a newish HP Photosmart Premium Plus(at least I think that is the name) and it is a good printer as well, just uses more ink than my Canon.

I can agree with you on the Lexmark/Brother comment....but I've never had an issue with Canon.

Epson makes some good printers as well, but some of their models seem a bit flimsy to me. Was looking at an Artisan 710 recently and all the reviews have it as a great printer, but man was in a flimsy thing.

HP works fine for me. I have the HP7410 all in one unit. Now granted inks are a bit high in price, but you can get good deals now and then at the HP site. No spyware, but the drivers are somewhat big for the functions they do. All ink cartridges are pricey. That is how they make money. Lexmark X73 inks 12M1970 & 15M0120 are sill in $30 range (for new units)
Remans run about half that. HP inks seems to last a long time.

Just bought a canon 560 all in one model. Works fine. My canon ip4500's printhead crapped out after 2 years of moderate use. Not too happy because I loved that printer.
