I want an icon to put on the desktop that will log you out and take you back to the login screen. Is this possible?

Try look around the web. It's made by VB script. The common ones are icons for shutting down.

1) Right click on your desktop and choose "New Shortcut".

2) In the "Command Line" box type; rundll32.exe shell32.dll,SHExitWindowsEx 2

3) Click "Next" and name your shortcut whatever you like.

I believe that shortcut only works in 98/95. It doesn't work in Win2k.

Sorry, the command line I gave was for restarting Windows98/98SE/ME.

rundll32.exe shell32.dll,SHExitWindowsEx 2 restarts Window, and I gaurantee that this one works under Win98SE.

rundll32.exe shell32.dll,SHExitWindowsEx 0 is the command to Logoff, although I haven't actually tried it.

After creating the shortcut, right-click on it and choose "Properties". Make sure the the "Start in:" box says C:\

I seem to recall that in Win95 you could just create a batchfile (.bat extension) and make the only thing in it @exit. That would immediately shut down Windows, though I don't think it was a graceful shutdown. It may have just brought you to a DOS prompt. (I'm not about to try it just to see. :))

<< just use the damn shortcut >>

You mean the Start | Shutdown thing? But, that's all of 3, maybe even 4 clicks! I don't have that kind of time!
