CLI Seti Questions...

I run the SETI GUI program 24/7 on my machine here at work (P3 600 Coppermine). It take about 10-11 hours to complete a unit. Is this what I should be getting?

Would I see a noticeable speed difference with this PC? How about my 1.8A P4 at home?

Download link for Windows CLI

The CLI should in most cases make it about 10-25% faster (or something like that 😉)

As for optimisations, increase FSB and memory speeds! Seti loves fast memory and FSB because it is so memory dependant!

So if you can drop the latency and increase the speed of the RAM, and also increase the FSB as much as you can if overclocking! 🙂

Confused

Actually the linux version is not as optimized as the Windows version. There are reports that running the windows cli using wine on a linux box is slightly faster than running it on windows. The best windows Operating systems for Seti are Win2K and XP.

I believe that the Windows CLI running under WINE is a touch faster than the native Linux client, and is also a touch faster (read: a couple of minutes) than the Windows CLI in Windows.

If she comes back anytime soon and sees this then Poof is the woman to ask, but i believe this is right, from what i can remember her (and others) saying 🙂
