CLI.. I'm impressed.

Haven't done any WU's yet, but I can see its going hella faster than GUI. Does it do same process as GUI or are there some elements that CLI doesn't analyze?

As far as I know, it does the exact same analysis....somebody else may correct me though (Ray, don't come in here 😛)

🙂

The GUI and CLI process the same information. The graphics that are shown with the GUI client are what slow it down so much.

WOW!

I type slow, nobody had responded when I first saw this thread.

There are sure some enthusiastic people around here 🙂

I can't believe there is anyone out there who would actually rather be on a different team.

Even with the GUI application minimized, CLI is HELLA LOT faster. On Athlon 700MHz. Compare 15hrs vs 5hrs to get to 50%.

system specs?

Abit KT7A Raid
Tbird 1.33 running at 1.40
1GB Infineon PC133 running CAS 3 Turbo 4Way Bank Interleave
WinXP Home Edition

I guess those are the important hardware specs. I have screen saver turned off and use DPMS, I don't go to standby or power down anything, and I have as few as possible services running. In the sys tray I only have Winamp, MBM, and Seti running (aside from volume controls, network icon, and the clock).

SeekingTao, can you not set your ram at CAS2 and maintain stability? Seti really likes fast mem timings.

Wow, never know SETI@HOME can be this addictive. I am going to start crunching on a 1.4TB this weekend. I will see how it compare to a P-III 650.

What would be better:

CAS 2 at Fast Settings without 4Way Interleave

CAS 3 at Turbo Settings with 4Way Interleave

At my current settings, according to Sandra 001, my CAS 3 comes in just shy of their CAS 2 score.

I know, I am completely addicted 🙂

Jerboy,

Do you have a copy of SETI Spy (or something similar) to track the progress of the CLI program? If not, make sure to get yourself a copy of it. You'll never miss the GUI.

I don't really know, I am a virgin when it comes to that stuff, but the best I can tell you is, try it and see 😉

CAS 2 at Turbo Settings with 4Way Interleave of course!! I know that wasn't one of the choices 😱
I would try it both ways and see of there is a definite difference while doing work units having about the same AR.

Cool stuff, my 1.4TB smokes P3 650. I am getting ~5hr/WU. That's twice as fast!! Too bad I can't let my TBird run 24/7; it humms like a jet. However, I will let it crunch while I'm at work, heehee 😀

ys: Have you tried overclocking? With your specs, it looks like you ought to be able to get a few more MHz out of that thing, and thus slightly better WU times 🙂

DarkMajiq: No, I don't wanna risk frying it with only a stock heat sink and fan. I am happy that it's enough for Serious Sam 🙂
