They've been doing those commercials with the red chair and black backdrop, people telling you what they want, all that.

Well just saw one where a guy comes out, and just starts beating the CRAP out of the chair, tossing it around, tipping it over, that sort of stuff. Thought maybe it was a mock or something, then they had the logo and mentioned how it was March and perfect time for a new Cingular phone. Then it dawned on me that they were making fun of that basketball coach who liked throwing around chairs.

Think anybody other than sports fanatics will get it, or is it a gamble and miss?
 
They'd get it if he just THREW the chair, but beating up on it? I dunno...

As for the connection between sports and a new Cingular phone...
 
i think that whole marketing campaign is weak. most uninspiring commercials from radio shack yet. it in fact give the oppositie effect and makes me not want to buy from them. they are overpriced anyway, this just gives me the extra incentive to go some where else.
 
I actually saw this tonight and my fiancee and I were both confused by WTF they were trying to get across.
 
I thought the red chair commercials were stupid.

Annoying people waiting their turn to sit in a red chair and yack annoyingly about what I should've gotten them for Christmas or their birthday... wtf?!?!
