Clemens denied 300th Career Win by the Cubs

He pitched pretty good from what I understand.

And I would have liked to see FunnyCide win the triple crown ...

It wouldn't bother me if he never got 300. I don't know why, but Clemens has always rubbed me the wrong way.

He did it to himself.

Wearing the 300 win glove before he won it.

Flying in friends and family to see him win the game.

Baseball players are superstitious for a reason... crap like this.

First off, he didn't do it to himself, Clueless Joe did it to him. Absolutely, without a doubt, the worst managerial move I've seen in my life. He should be fired. I won't even start on Assholevedo, but he shouldn't have been in the game in the first place.

Second, It wasn't his idea about the glove. MLB sent it to him and told him to wear it...making it even more ironic that it was illegal to wear, another genius move by MLB.

You know WHY he did it right?? Clemens has been suffering from a respitory tract infection. Clemens was starting to wheeze a little bit so his manager decided to give him a rest.

I don't think it was a bad decision at the time.

of course Yankees bullpen isn't what it used to be.

yeah it was the manager/MLB fault he didnt win the game. Never mind the fact that cubs are doing well this year and woods is a darn good pitcher.

I didn't blame the MLB for him losing the game, I'll blame them for almost anything else though. 🙂

Roger was still throwing in the middle 90s when he was taken out, he still had it, he had plenty left in the tank and could have at least gotten out of the inning. He's earned the right to work his way out of little jams like that. A sick, hell a dead Rocket is better than Acevedo. Even if you're going to defend Clueless Joe's move of taking him out, answer me this. Why, why, why would you bring in Acevedo, man with an era of 8(!)? The absolute worst pitcher in the bullpen. This guy makes Witasick look like Cy f'n Young. Terrible, terrible move, still makes me sick to think about it.

Don't get me wrong, Wood is a good pitcher, and pitched great today, however if Joe had any idea how to manage a game, it wouldn't have been enough to earn the W.

i'd laugh if he never got it. someone should injure him.

Wow...a true fan of the sport. I bet you would have had a ball watching the Cubs first baseman being taken out in an ambulance. Idiot.

Not to nit pick, but I understood that his glove manufacturer gave it to him. He claimed MLB gave it to him, but that really wasn't the case.

Bad Karma

Kerry Wood pitched a hellova game today. 11 K's. I hope the Cubs won't pull another Maddox and let him get away a few years.

I agree. I thought it was a horrible move by Torre. Clemens's pitch count was pretty low so unless he specifically asked to be taken out (yeah right) there was no reason to pull him like that. He wasn't struggling *that* badly, and the situation was hardly critical. 2 men on and 1 out with a slow, mediocre batter coming to the plate. Karros was a strikeout or double play waiting to happen.

Heck of a game overall, though...after all the hype I expected a let-down but it really lived up to expectations. Regular season games don't get any better.
