First off, he didn't do it to himself, Clueless Joe did it to him. Absolutely, without a doubt, the worst managerial move I've seen in my life. He should be fired. I won't even start on Assholevedo, but he shouldn't have been in the game in the first place.
Second, It wasn't his idea about the glove. MLB sent it to him and told him to wear it...making it even more ironic that it was illegal to wear, another genius move by MLB.

You know WHY he did it right?? Clemens has been suffering from a respitory tract infection. Clemens was starting to wheeze a little bit so his manager decided to give him a rest.
I don't think it was a bad decision at the time.
of course Yankees bullpen isn't what it used to be.

Denied by Kerry Wood is more like it.
I agree. I thought it was a horrible move by Torre. Clemens's pitch count was pretty low so unless he specifically asked to be taken out (yeah right) there was no reason to pull him like that. He wasn't struggling *that* badly, and the situation was hardly critical. 2 men on and 1 out with a slow, mediocre batter coming to the plate. Karros was a strikeout or double play waiting to happen. He's earned the right to work his way out of little jams like that.
