ClearType works best with digital interface! Why?

I have noticed that when using cleartype with my Rad-5 LCD (analog interface), text has very slight fringes of color just like my CRT did. While the cleartype on the Rad-5 does look better than my CRT, it is disturbing that text has any color fringes at all. I was under the impression that cleartype works MUCH better on an LCD than on a CRT. I did a search on google and came up with this:

http://www.microsoft.com/hwdev/tech/display/clrtype.asp

"The interface between an LCD display and the graphics controller should be digital rather than analog. Most handheld, palm-held, and laptop display devices already are. Newer flat-panel displays that use current digital video interface standards are suitable. Preferably, a single standard will be adopted by the industry, but this is not critical to ClearType as long as no digital-to-analog conversion takes place. "

Damn, this is not good news for owners of LCDs with analog connections. Does anyone know why and how the digital to analog conversion impedes the quality of cleartype? Also, is the color fringing I am seeing definitely a result of my analog connection? Does anyone have a 15" digital interface LCD that uses cleartype? If so, I would love to know if you notice any slight color fringing on text.

That's interesting. Is it because the analog interface "loses" some quality, whereas digital does not?
