Clearity of Logitech Z5300e

Hi,

Want to upgrade my sound set up.
currently using onboard sound(P4P800e Deluxe) along with Altec Lansing ATP3(2.1)

I was thinking about Logitech Z2300 (2.1) most time for mp3 music, sometimes for gaming. I like BASS very very much.

Now i am thinking about Logitech Z5300e.. (5.1)

my room is about 8'width x 6'(approx.)

My questions are:

1. Should i use 2.1 or 5.1 setup in such a small room?

2. Should i use Audigy 2 instead of onboard sound?(i have one on my other computer, just too lazy to move it around if they are similar.?

3. I know audigy 2 and z5300e is THX supported, what is the advantage of them? still dont understand. I know i can get theatre atmosphere, but will this little thingy really give me the feel in theatre?

4. is there Z5300 and Z5300e? complete 2 things or what ??!!

5. My budget is about $100US for speakers, any other suggestions?

once again, i like bass really much, but only good bass doesnt make good speaker, both high, mid, low range needs to coop!

Hello, I am from HK as well, just living in UK at the moment

Well the Creative I-trigue L3450(White) or L3500(Black) which have titanium tweeters have very good and loud bass and excellent mid-and high performance. Although they are 2.1, they are top-of-the-line 2.1 speakers

They should be around $750 HKD in HK, which is just within your budget


However, USD $100 ($800 HKD) is a tight budget for good 5.1 speakers. If I am you I would go for the best 2.1 speakers instead. If I really want a 5.1 speaker I would go for it when I have more money.

(Cheap 5.1 speakers are okay-good for gaming but no good for music)

Audigy 2 have great features for both 2.1 and 5.1 setup. CMSS is a nice addition for 5.1 music listening.
EAX is great for games

The only Logitech speakers I vouch for are the Z-680s/Z-5500s. Lower-end models were never great in the past and I don't know if they've improved them much recently?

I agree with yacoub.
Z-5500 costs around $3000 HKD which is 3-4 times your budget
For your budget you should opt for Creative I-Trigue L3450/3500 as I said earlier

Actually the budget no greater than $1300HKD, which is around $160.00 US.

THX means nothing, is it really true?
most expensive speaker has this approved.
I was about to buy a Edifier 5.1 for around $100US, but this doesn't have THX...
anyways, i haven't seen a cheap THX speaker yet.

I saw Z680 in HK for $2450 and Z5500 for $3000
my room is not that big, so really don't need this big speaker... even they are satelite, still very huge in size.

Pretty much all computer speakers are "cheap". Look at the higher end ones and you will see most aren't THX certified. Its great marketing for speakers and a great way to sell a product that may be no better than any others

I just bought 5 speakers for $1920 (US) and they weren't THX certified. THX means very little in computer speakers and is mainly a marketing ploy. There are different standards of THX certification.

THX kind of means something in HT stuff, but there are a ton of great products that don't bother with THX testing as it adds to the final cost of the products.

Go with the Logitech x-530 for $60 dollars and get a nice sound card. That will be really nice I personally have those speakers and I love them.

Logitechs have boomy one-note bass and lack good upper frequency response, due to the satellites only having one driver, but on the other hand they offer a lot of options and are less expensive than the competition... Klipsch's Pro Media Ultras and Creative's Gigaworks (rebadged Cambridge) sound far better. I'd also go with an M-Audio Revolution over an audigy.
