Clearing up disk space

Hi! I am running WIN98. I was trying to clear up space, and started with Temporary Files (urls/cookies). I deleted in the browsers "Tools" and used "Disk Cleanup" off-line. I even shutdown & rebooted. They are still there.

Do I have to highlight each one separately then use my file/delete for each one to clean them out?

OR maybe I am trying to use the Disk cleanup wrong. It seems pretty straight-forword, highlight the internet file, click OK and it should delete.

Anywhere else besides the items in disk cleanup I could look to free up space?? Thanks!!!

Try this It helped mine a lot..

First clear out the recycle bin. Then Click start.... Find.. Files or folders in the named box type this in.. .temp,~*.* it should list a bunch. click the top one then hold the ctrl button down and click the bottom one.. After they are all highlighted right click then delete.. leave them in the recycle bin for a few day to make sure there is no problems. Remember the . in the front.

.temp,~*.*

I had a few hundered the first time

One minor point. It's hold down the "shift" key and click on the first and last files. That will highlight the entire list. Holding down the control key will only highlight the first and last files but not the ones in between.

Hi Again! I successfully deleted 410 files to the recycle bin. ( I had 1 that would not delete, but not a problem)The Find Option shows 0.00MB, or empty.

However, disk cleanup still shows the files & sub-folders, some 10,000 of them. The same is true when I checked in my browser tools/internet options/Temp. Internet files/settings/view files.

I assume I have to repeat this process in "disk-clean-up & Browser"??? to clear those files???

Thanks!!

Thanks for the advice. I book marked it and will procrastinate it awhile. However, I want to remove the Temp. internet files from the browser & Disk cleanup. DO I use the same method as above which was quite easily done??

I can't figure why these files are in three places, and now still in two places. I assume they should go away also??? Correct????
