Clearing bios-Activating XP

I believe only significant hardware changes trigger that (4 devices??) , so my guess is a fairly confident no.

You don't clear your BIOS, that'd render the machine inoperable, permanently. You clear your BIOS settings, which are stored in CMOS RAM, right?

Thats what I meant. I did this with the jumper because I was having a problem with the bios not recognizing my cpu correctly. This happened twice radomly. This is a fresh install of XP. When I did this it caused an activation. I had 27 days left before it was to be activated.

I figured out what happened. I had 27 days left to activate XP. When I cleared the bios, it changed the date causing XP to lock me out.
